Ms. Jennifer Hornback

Mrs. Jennifer Hornback joins Gulfport School District as Director of Career and Technical Education. Hornback’s resume highlights a successful tenure as a K-12 administrator, teacher, and coach. In addition to a stellar career teaching at the secondary level in rural and urban school districts, she brings over 10 years of University level instruction and coaching. “Coach” Hornback moves into the position after serving the students of Gulfport School District as Career Coach in 2023/2024.

Leaning into varied experiences allows her to connect with a wide range of students and educators. Her portfolio includes CTE facilitation, MTSS intervention, International Baccalaureate, juvenile justice and alternative education administration. Under her leadership, a restructure of curriculum and instruction at the Wyandotte County Juvenile Detention Center led to its first graduate, increased graduation credits, college recruitment visits, and a series of mock interviews with industry professionals.

Mrs. Hornback is recognized by others as a dynamic educational advocate that approaches everyday with kindness, enthusiasm, and a growth mindset. Her data driven approach to decision making, and holding that standard for her leadership team and staff, led to an International Baccalaureate Career Programme at Sumner Academy of Arts & Science, the top rated school in Kansas. As a result, based on industry need and student interests, over 100 industry experiences were created along with 4 new career pathways.

Mrs. Hornback returns to the coast with her husband, a former Mississippi State Football player and native Mississippian. Of all her accomplishments, she is most proud to be the aunt of two outstanding nephews and called “Lovie” by her four grandchildren.
