Welcome Letter for 2023/24 School Year

The following information provides you with an overview of Gulfport High School’s DECA program.  It highlights the purpose of DECA and what you can expect as a DECA member.

Chapter Membership - DECA makes a positive difference in students’ lives by developing their potential for citizenship, leadership, teamwork, personal growth, and career success. The experience provides opportunities at the local, district, and state levels.

The registration deadline is August 26, 2023.

Students benefit from CTSO (career and technical student organizations) experiences that do the following:

• Make school-to-career connections for students;
• Develop students’ career and leadership skills;
• Prepare students to be responsible citizens; and
• Earn students’ recognition and build their self-confidence.

Leadership - Our DECA leadership will consist of students enrolled in one or more of the following GHS Academic CAB (Communication, Arts, and Business) Institute’s 2-year programs:  Lodging, Hospitality, and Tourism or Business, Marketing, and Finance.

As a leader, you will represent Gulfport High School, Gulfport DECA, and Mississippi DECA. Your position will enable you to play an active role in continuing the legacy of GHS DECA. Please contact me with any questions you may have!
