Academic Institutes

Welcome to a new era of secondary education in Mississippi!

In 2010, Gulfport High School transformed into the first public high school in the state to introduce The Academic Institutes. This innovative structure blends a rigorous academic curriculum with career-focused, project-based learning, preparing students for success in higher education or the workforce.

The Academic Institutes are organized around the 16 National Career Clusters, reflecting a national effort to equip future generations to thrive in our global economy.

In 2017, Gulfport High School completed a $40+ million renovation of its Academic, Arts, and Athletic facilities. These state-of-the-art buildings offer students an unparalleled combination of services and curriculum, setting a new standard for high schools in Mississippi.
